Platform Comparisons
Baci vs WooCommerce: Hosted Commerce or Plugin Control?

Choose Baci when you want a hosted commerce platform with merchant operations brought together; choose WooCommerce when WordPress ownership and plugin-level control justify maintaining a more configurable stack. Both have documented routes to Nigerian payments. The useful comparison is how your required workflow is provided, configured and maintained—not whether one vendor has a longer marketing checklist.
Disclosure: this comparison is published by Baci. We reviewed current first-party documentation and Baci implementation evidence on 28 October 2026. We did not conduct a comparative speed benchmark, a new live payment, or a carrier-delivery test. Features remain subject to account permissions, plan, country and provider configuration.
What Baci provides beyond a storefront
Baci's current features page documents payment configuration, shipping workflows, domain management, Jumia integration and operational tools alongside store generation. Our source review found the corresponding web and mobile-admin implementations and their eligibility checks. These are supported product capabilities, not proof that every integration is active for every merchant.
For a Nigerian business, that means evaluating the work after a sale as well as the storefront: updating variants, recording an order, producing a receipt, arranging fulfilment and giving staff appropriate access. Baci brings supported workflows into its platform. WooCommerce lets you assemble and customize a WordPress-based stack around your requirements.

Baci vs WooCommerce: the practical trade-offs
| Decision | Baci | WooCommerce |
|---|---|---|
| Operating model | Hosted platform with supported merchant workflows across web and mobile-admin. | Open-source WordPress commerce with a choice of host, themes and extensions. |
| Nigerian payments | Supports merchant-configured gateways, including Paystack; eligibility and setup apply. | Documents a Paystack integration for Nigerian stores; a suitable account and configuration are required. |
| Fulfilment | Shipping configuration and supported quote, booking and tracking workflows. | Configurable shipping, with the carrier connections chosen for the store. |
| Catalog work | Variants, inventory and supported CSV imports. | Product management and built-in product CSV import/export tools. |
| Domains and channels | Domain purchase/connection and supported Jumia synchronization. | Domain/hosting arrangements and channel integrations selected for the installation. |
| Customization | Work within Baci's supported platform capabilities and configuration. | WordPress and extension-level control, with responsibility for the resulting stack. |
| Agent interfaces | Documented ACP/UCP foundations with authorization and readiness gates. | Documented REST APIs for integrations; that alone is not an equivalent protocol or certification claim. |
Payments and delivery: compare complete workflows
Baci is not missing a documented Nigerian payment route. Its implementation checks Paystack setup and country eligibility before exposing that checkout option; other payment methods have their own configuration requirements. Do not assume that a gateway displayed in settings is enabled for a particular store, or that payment-processing fees disappear because a platform subscription says there are no transaction fees.
WooCommerce's Paystack documentation likewise provides a Nigerian integration route with account and installation requirements. Neither product should be credited with guaranteed account approval, a particular settlement time, or every payment method without checking the merchant's actual arrangement.
Baci also implements delivery zones, rates, pickup and supported shipment operations. A quote, a booking and a completed delivery are different events. Check your serviceable destinations and provider connection before relying on a carrier workflow. On WooCommerce, identify which shipping configuration or extension supplies the same business requirement and who maintains it.
Use one acceptance scenario for either platform: select a real product variant, enter a delivery address, inspect the total, and follow payment confirmation into the order record. Include a failed or abandoned payment and a stock correction. Run any chargeable payment or shipment test only with the merchant's approval.
Domains, Jumia and everyday merchant operations
Baci supports searching for a domain, purchasing an eligible domain or connecting one already owned, followed by verification and primary-domain management. Registration costs and DNS completion still apply. Android in-app domain purchasing is not enabled; existing-domain connection is a separate workflow.
Its Jumia connection covers supported product and order synchronization, subject to marketplace access, authorization and connection health. This does not establish identical support for other marketplaces. Ask to see the specific sync direction and error handling needed by your operation.
Staff-entered orders, payment records, invoices, receipts and permission-managed team access are also implemented. Mobile-admin includes expense/profit and customer-follow-up surfaces. Those tools do not automatically constitute certified accounting, offline POS, or guaranteed checkout recovery.
What will the store actually cost?
On 28 October 2026, Baci's published pricing lists Free at ₦0, Pro at ₦5,000/month and Premium at ₦15,000/month. It lists a ten-product limit for Free and unlimited products on Pro. Check the current entitlement for each required workflow rather than assuming that all features belong to every plan.
WooCommerce's core software has no monthly subscription. Its vendor pricing page gives illustrative hosting and paid-extension ranges, not a Nigerian merchant quotation. A WooCommerce budget should include the chosen hosting, domain, extensions and technical work; a Baci budget should include the chosen plan and any separately chargeable services.
For both, itemize domain renewal, payment processing, carrier charges, setup and ongoing support. Ask for first-year and renewal-year costs in the billing currency. Compare the same required workflow, rather than a free software download against an all-in service or a platform subscription against an agency's complete maintenance package.

Maintenance, portability and speed
WooCommerce's flexibility is valuable when it solves a requirement you can name. Its update guidance covers backups, staging and checks after changes. A hosting provider or agency can do that work; choosing WooCommerce does not mean the merchant must personally administer a server.
With Baci, merchants use the hosted platform rather than maintaining their own WordPress/plugin combination. That distinction is not a promise of a particular uptime, backup-retention period or incident-response SLA. Confirm the support and recovery commitments separately, for either option.
For an exit plan, WooCommerce documents product CSV import and export. Baci has catalog-import and order-document workflows, but this review does not establish an equivalent complete catalog or store-export guarantee. Request a sample export and evaluate products, variants, images, customers and order history separately. A product CSV is not an entire working store.
We are not declaring either platform faster. A meaningful comparison needs equivalent content, devices and network conditions, with laboratory measurements separated from real-user data. Complete the order journey as well: a quick landing page cannot compensate for confusing payment or fulfilment status.
Agent-ready commerce without exaggerated promises
Baci's direction is to make African commerce usable by people and authorized software agents. Its documented ACP/UCP work includes structured discovery and supported cart, checkout-session and order interfaces. The source applies merchant-readiness and authorization checks. This is more specific than a general claim that AI will run a business.
It is not certification, automatic ChatGPT or Google shopping inclusion, universal merchant activation, or permission for agents to spend without controls. WooCommerce also provides REST APIs for integrations. An API and a commerce protocol solve related but different problems; choose against the integration your business actually needs, rather than treating an acronym as a purchasing decision.
Verdict: consolidation or control?
Baci is the practical shortlist when you want a hosted platform combining supported storefront and merchant-operation workflows. WooCommerce is the practical shortlist when WordPress integration or plugin-level customization is important enough to justify assembling and maintaining the stack. Neither wins every requirement, and incomplete research is not evidence that a feature is absent.
List your essential workflows, confirm account eligibility, compare complete costs and identify the person responsible when something fails. That produces a more useful decision than an unsupported feature-parity score.
Frequently asked questions
Does Baci support Paystack?
Yes. Baci documents and implements Paystack payment configuration, with merchant setup and country eligibility checks. Confirm the methods available to your store; no settlement or processing-fee promise is implied here.
Can Baci manage a domain and Jumia connection?
Supported domain-management and Jumia product/order-sync workflows are documented. Domain purchase needs eligible access and successful registration; marketplace synchronization needs authorization and a healthy connection. Android in-app domain purchase remains disabled.
Is WooCommerce free?
The core software is free. Running the store can still involve hosting, domain renewal, payment processing, extensions and support. Obtain a budget for the actual installation.
Does ACP/UCP support mean agents can buy without permission?
No. Baci's supported agent interfaces retain readiness and authorization requirements. Protocol implementation does not confer partner approval or automatic placement on another platform.
