Bumpa Alternatives: Compare Storefronts, Stock and Costs

Baci, Shopify and WooCommerce are worth shortlisting as Bumpa alternatives in Nigeria, depending on your storefront, inventory and operating needs. Baci merits a closer look for its documented commerce workflows and naira plans; Shopify offers a hosted platform benchmark, while WooCommerce suits merchants prepared to manage a configurable WordPress setup.
Decision summary
Choose around the work your business must complete every day: publish accurate products, accept an eligible payment method, record counter and social sales, arrange delivery, and reconcile the money. A different storefront design alone is a weak reason to migrate if the change makes those jobs harder.
This is an official-source comparison reviewed on 2 November 2026, published by Baci. Baci capability descriptions also use its implementation register reviewed on 28 October 2026. That register establishes implementation evidence, not successful production testing or availability for every merchant. We have not benchmarked mobile speed, completed comparative checkouts or tested migration between these platforms.
The practical shortlist is:
- Baci: investigate when you want a branded storefront alongside documented catalog, staff-entered order, payment and fulfillment workflows. Confirm the required features on your actual account before switching.
- Shopify: investigate when a hosted platform with themes, inventory tools and an app ecosystem fits your operating budget. Nigerian payment eligibility needs separate attention.
- WooCommerce: investigate when control over a WordPress store matters enough to justify choosing hosting, extensions and technical support.
- Keep Bumpa in the comparison: its official product pages describe inventory, sales recording, expenses and physical-store workflows. An alternative must solve a specific problem better for your business to justify migration.
Feature comparison: what the evidence supports
This decision table compares published information and documented scope. It is not a numerical ranking, and an unknown does not mean a feature is absent.
| Decision dimension | Baci | Bumpa baseline | Shopify | WooCommerce |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Merchant fit | Evaluate documented storefront and operational workflows together. | Product pages cover online and physical-store operations. | Hosted commerce with themes and an app ecosystem. | Configurable WordPress commerce; arrange technical ownership. |
| Published cost basis | Free, Pro and Premium naira plans; details below. | Subscriptions use quarterly, half-yearly or annual billing. | Subscription plus applicable payment and optional app costs. | Free core software; hosting and extensions are separate. |
| Storefront and catalog workflow | AI assistance, variants and plan-gated CSV import have implementation evidence. | Website and inventory tools are described publicly. | Pricing page lists themes and inventory management. | Documentation covers variable products and bulk editing. |
| Payments and delivery availability | Provider, country, configuration and route restrictions apply. | Public product pages describe payments and delivery processing; confirm account-specific terms. | Verify an eligible payment provider and fulfillment setup. | Verify the selected gateway and delivery extensions. |

Pricing and cost model
Compare the amount payable, not just the monthly equivalent
On 2 November 2026, Baci’s public pricing page lists Free at ₦0 with one store, up to 10 products, a basic storefront and a Baci subdomain. Pro is listed at ₦5,000 per month, including unlimited products, a custom domain, advanced analytics, priority support and marketing tools. Premium is listed at ₦15,000 per month and adds multiple staff accounts, an advanced report builder and a dedicated account manager.
Baci Pro also advertises no transaction fees. Do not treat that wording as a promise that payment processors charge nothing: obtain the applicable provider charges separately. Custom-domain entitlement also does not establish that registration or renewal is included. Review the current Baci plans and published limits, then confirm billing entitlements for your account.
Bumpa’s displayed quarterly option lists Starter at ₦15,000 per quarter, equivalent to ₦5,000 monthly, and Pro at ₦30,000 per quarter, equivalent to ₦10,000 monthly. Its FAQ says monthly subscription billing is unavailable. Growth, Scale and Premium are marked unavailable on the quarterly selection; that does not establish their prices under other billing periods.
The distinction matters for cash planning. Two offers can display the same monthly equivalent while requiring different amounts upfront. Keep subscription payments separate from domain renewal, optional templates, messaging, gateway processing and migration assistance.
Budget for the operating model
Shopify’s reviewed pricing page displays Basic at US$39 on monthly billing or US$29 per month with yearly billing. These are the displayed USD terms, not a verified Nigerian checkout quotation. Confirm the applicable regional offer, currency and taxes before committing; no naira conversion is assumed here.
WooCommerce’s core software has no monthly subscription. Its official pricing guide separately estimates hosting at US$25–350 monthly for most stores and extensions at US$29–299 annually per extension. These are the vendor’s planning ranges, not a quote for a Nigerian store. Commission a costed setup rather than assuming free software means free operation.
Build a twelve-month budget with three columns: unavoidable costs, optional improvements and one-time transition work. Include the staff hours needed to clean a catalog, learn a new order process and reconcile opening balances. Ask who pays to fix a broken integration and who owns the credentials. Those answers can matter more than a small subscription difference.
Storefront customization, domains and mobile speed
Bumpa’s pricing table says a custom domain can be purchased on Starter, while Pro includes a .com.ng domain purchase with renewal excluded. Advanced templates are listed as purchasable on Starter, Pro and Growth. Ask for the exact design you need and its total price before deciding that switching platforms is necessary.
Baci documents domain purchase, existing-domain connection, verification and primary-domain management. Eligibility, registrar payment and DNS configuration apply; Android in-app domain purchasing is disabled. Connecting an existing domain is a separate workflow. Shopify likewise documents buying a domain through Shopify or using one from another provider.
Domain flexibility involves more than displaying a branded address. Keep the registration in an account your business controls, confirm access to DNS settings, record the renewal date and identify who can change the destination. During migration, plan how customers will reach existing product links and how business email will keep working.
There is no measured mobile-speed winner in this comparison. Baci describes responsive storefronts, but responsiveness does not establish faster loading than Bumpa, Shopify or WooCommerce. Theme choice, product photography, scripts and connection quality should be part of your evaluation.
Use the same small catalog and similar images when comparing demos. On a phone and connection representative of your customers, open a category, choose a variant, add it to the cart and reach payment. Note delays, unexpected redirects and difficult form fields. Repeat the exercise before drawing conclusions; a polished homepage is only one part of the purchase journey.
Inventory control and AI product tools
Baci’s reviewed register records CSV imports, product variants, stock management and serialized inventory workflows. Bulk import is plan-gated, so unlimited products on a public plan should not be interpreted as automatic access to every import tool. Confirm the format, entitlement and validation rules against your catalog.
WooCommerce’s product documentation explicitly describes variations with individual prices, SKUs and stock levels, alongside bulk editing. That makes it worth investigating for catalogs whose options need separate inventory treatment. It still requires a suitable implementation and a clear maintenance owner.
For a useful inventory trial, select representative items: a simple product, a size-and-colour product, a low-stock item and a serialized item if your business needs one. Check opening quantities, variant mapping, duplicate identifiers and how corrections are recorded. Ask what happens when a staff-entered sale and a website order involve the same item.
Baci also has implementation evidence for AI-assisted storefront editing and content workflows. Treat generated descriptions and suggested changes as material for human approval. Review dimensions, ingredients, compatibility, claims and return conditions against your own records. AI assistance does not establish an autonomous business operator or remove responsibility for catalog accuracy.
For advanced needs, request a demonstration of the exact workflow. Baci’s audit does not establish dedicated offline POS, multi-location stock, product bundles, customer-group segmentation or general merchant API access. These items remain unverified; documentation gaps do not prove absence. Staff-entered orders should not be treated as evidence of offline terminal operation.
Checkout and payments
Baci’s reviewed implementation includes merchant-configured Paystack, Korapay, Credit Direct and pay-on-delivery options. Country, currency, merchant eligibility, subaccount requirements and provider configuration apply. This does not establish successful activation or settlement timing for your business.
For Shopify, Nigeria is not listed on the reviewed Shopify Payments supported-country page. A Nigeria-based merchant therefore needs an eligible third-party provider rather than assuming Shopify Payments access. Shopify’s documentation says third-party and alternate gateway transactions can attract platform transaction fees; confirm the rate for your location and plan, alongside the processor’s own charges.
Ask each shortlisted platform to demonstrate a successful payment, a failed attempt and an unpaid order on the configuration you intend to use. Check when an order becomes paid, who can record a manual payment and what evidence staff should inspect before releasing goods. A screenshot of a transfer should not substitute for your chosen reconciliation process.
Delivery needs the same precision. Baci documents shipping zones, rates, pickup, quotes, booking and tracking workflows, subject to configuration and carrier coverage. Test representative destination addresses and establish how staff handle an unavailable route. Shipment-booking implementation does not prove carrier delivery or establish multi-location inventory.

Best fit: choose by the workflow you need to improve
When Baci belongs on your shortlist
Consider Baci when you want to evaluate storefront ownership alongside order entry, documents, payment configuration and fulfillment. Its documented Jumia connection is relevant to an eligible marketplace seller, but entitlement, Vendor Center authorization and sync health require verification. It is not evidence of automatic synchronization across every sales channel.
Baci’s mission is to make practical digital commerce infrastructure more accessible to African merchants, starting with Nigeria. The concrete opportunity is to connect the work around a sale: maintaining stock, recording payment, producing a receipt and arranging fulfillment. The Baci features and availability conditions provide the starting point for that evaluation. Accessibility and commercial impact still need to be demonstrated in actual merchant use.
Future-facing capabilities should remain separate from that buying decision. Baci documents ACP and UCP interfaces, but protocol implementation is not certification, partner approval or automatic inclusion in ChatGPT or Google shopping. Choose on verified present needs before assigning value to future distribution possibilities.
When another option or staying with Bumpa makes sense
Shortlist Shopify when its hosted platform and extension model fit your requirements and total budget. It is a category benchmark here, not evidence that Baci has equivalent capabilities. Shortlist WooCommerce when custom control is a priority and you can assign responsibility for hosting, updates, backups and integration maintenance.
Staying with Bumpa can be sensible if its demonstrated workflows already meet your needs. Before migrating, identify the recurring task that is failing, its business consequence and the replacement workflow you expect. If the issue can be resolved through configuration, training or a priced add-on, compare that remedy with the full cost of moving.
Verdict
Baci is worth evaluating for its published naira entry points and documented commerce workflows; Shopify and WooCommerce offer different hosted and configurable operating models. Billing cadence and operational scope are the decisive differences. Bumpa Starter’s quarterly payment differs from Baci Pro’s published monthly price, while Baci’s unverified offline POS and multi-location stock scope prevents a blanket replacement recommendation for physical-store operations.
Run a limited pilot before moving your primary domain or full catalog. Reconcile sample stock, complete an eligible checkout, check a receipt, process an exception and confirm the required staff permissions. Obtain the subscription, provider, migration and support terms in writing. Migrate when the replacement demonstrably solves your specific problem.
FAQ
Which Bumpa alternative should a Nigerian retailer shortlist?
Shortlist Baci for its documented storefront and commerce workflows, Shopify for a hosted platform model, and WooCommerce for configurable WordPress commerce. Confirm payment eligibility, inventory requirements, support ownership and total costs before choosing. This comparison does not establish a universal winner.
Can Baci replace an offline POS or multi-location inventory system?
The reviewed evidence establishes staff-entered orders and stock-management workflows, but does not establish dedicated offline POS or multi-location stock parity. Request a demonstration of the exact deployed workflow, permissions and subscription entitlement before planning a replacement.
Is Baci cheaper than Bumpa?
That depends on the features and billing period required. On 2 November 2026, Baci lists Pro at ₦5,000 monthly; Bumpa lists Starter at ₦15,000 quarterly, equivalent to ₦5,000 monthly. These are different plans. Compare domain costs, processing charges, add-ons, staff access and migration work before judging total cost.
